Burna Boy addresses Saheed Osupa as ‘GOAT’ singer

Fuji music icon King Saheed Osupa has shown gratitude to Grammy-winning Afrobeats star, Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, for publicly describing him as his “GOAT singer.”
The acronym “GOAT” stands for “Greatest of All Time,” a slang term widely used in sports and entertainment to describe someone considered the best in their field.
Burna Boy, during a recent GOAT Talk conversation with retired tennis star Roger Federer, named Osupa as his ‘GOAT’ singer.
Sharing a clip from the interview on X.com on Thursday, Osupa wrote, “Burna Boy’s heartfelt tribute, naming me as his GOAT singer on a global stage, is a monumental moment that celebrates the soul of Fuji music and its timeless influence.
“This honour not only uplifts my journey, but also shines a brilliant light on our rich cultural heritage, bridging generations and genres worldwide.”
The Fuji maestro, fondly called “Oba Orin”, said Burna Boy’s words not only uplift his personal journey but also highlight Nigeria’s cultural heritage and the enduring influence of Fuji music worldwide.
“I am profoundly grateful for this powerful acknowledgement from a true Afropop titan, the African Giant himself, of whom I am also a great fan. Together, we are redefining African music legacy and inspiring the world with authentic, vibrant sounds,” he wrote.
Osupa also thanked Burna Boy and fans who continue to embrace Fuji music, saying, “To Oluwa Burna and every music lover embracing our story – thank you for believing in the magic of Fuji. Thank you for believing in Africa’s ingenious creativity.”
He further disclosed plans to attend one of Burna Boy’s upcoming concerts to show appreciation for the recognition.
“I look forward to attending one of your upcoming concerts to appreciate your God-given talents and reciprocate your genuine love and affection. Keep prospering, my beloved Burna #burnaboy. The journey continues, stronger and more radiant than ever!”
