The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has indicated that it will challenge the outcome of the recent electoral sweep by the ruling party in court, alleging widespread irregularities during the polls. Party officials said preparations are underway to file a formal petition seeking judicial review of the results.
In a related development, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) confirmed the arrest of 20 individuals in connection with alleged vote-buying and other electoral offences. According to the anti-graft agency, the suspects were apprehended during coordinated operations aimed at curbing financial inducement of voters and manipulation of the electoral process.
The EFCC stated that investigations are ongoing and that those found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law. The agency reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the integrity of elections by targeting financial crimes that undermine democratic processes.
PDP representatives maintain that the arrests support their claims that the polls were compromised, insisting that the party will pursue all legal avenues to overturn what it describes as a flawed outcome. They emphasized that the judiciary remains the appropriate forum for resolving electoral disputes and restoring public confidence in the process.
