Nigerian media mogul Mo Abudu is set to deepen her global influence as the EbonyLife brand prepares to launch EbonyLife Place London, a major cultural and creative hub dedicated to amplifying African storytelling and entrepreneurship in the United Kingdom. The new venture, situated in the heart of London, is designed as a multi-purpose space that will serve as a meeting point for filmmakers, content creators, investors, and creatives of African descent. The project reflects EbonyLife’s long-standing mission to project authentic African narratives onto the global stage while creating sustainable opportunities within the creative economy. Speaking on the development, Abudu emphasized that the initiative is more than just a physical space, describing it as “a home for African creatives in the diaspora and a bridge connecting talent from Africa to the rest of the world.” She added that the hub would foster collaboration, innovation, and access to global markets, noting that “the time has come for African stories to take their rightful place at the center of global conversations.” EbonyLife Place London is expected to host film screenings, industry events, training programmes, and business incubation initiatives aimed at nurturing emerging talent while supporting established creators. The facility will also provide networking opportunities for stakeholders across film, television, fashion, and digital media. Industry analysts say the move signals a strategic expansion of EbonyLife’s footprint beyond Nigeria and reinforces the growing global appetite for African content. By establishing a permanent presence in one of the world’s leading creative capitals, the brand is positioning itself as a key player in shaping how African stories are produced, distributed, and consumed internationally. The launch marks another milestone in EbonyLife’s evolution from a Nigerian-based media company into a globally recognized creative powerhouse, underscoring Abudu’s vision of building platforms that not only tell African stories but also empower the people behind them.

Nigerian troops have successfully repelled a major coordinated assault by insurgents linked to Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province in Mallam Fatori, a strategic border town in Borno State, in what military authorities describe as one of the most decisive recent engagements in the North-East counterinsurgency campaign.
According to military sources, the attack, which occurred in the early hours, involved a large number of fighters who launched a coordinated ground assault on troop positions, attempting to overwhelm defensive lines and gain control of the town. The insurgents were said to have advanced from multiple directions, using heavy gunfire and improvised explosive devices in a bid to breach the military formation.
However, troops responded with what officials termed “superior firepower and tactical coordination,” engaging the attackers in a prolonged gun battle that lasted several hours. Reinforcements, including air support, were subsequently deployed, forcing the insurgents into retreat and inflicting heavy casualties.
A senior military officer familiar with the operation stated, “The troops stood their ground with exceptional courage and professionalism. The insurgents underestimated the level of preparedness on the ground and paid a heavy price for it.” The officer added that “over 80 terrorists were neutralized during the encounter, including several field commanders whose identities are being verified.”
Security sources further disclosed that a cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the fleeing insurgents, while several motorcycles and operational equipment used in the assault were destroyed. The military also confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track and intercept remnants of the fleeing fighters along known escape routes.
Mallam Fatori, located near Nigeria’s border with Niger, has long been considered a critical location in the fight against insurgency due to its strategic importance as a transit corridor for armed groups. Its repeated targeting by insurgents underscores its significance in regional security dynamics.
A defence spokesperson, commenting on the development, said, “This successful defence of Mallam Fatori demonstrates the growing effectiveness of ongoing military operations across the theatre. Our troops remain committed to denying terrorists any foothold within Nigerian territory.” The spokesperson also reassured residents that “measures have been reinforced to secure the area and prevent further incursions.”
Local sources reported that although the intensity of the fighting caused panic among residents, many have since begun returning to their homes following assurances of improved security presence. Humanitarian officials are said to be monitoring the situation to assess any immediate needs arising from the incident.
Military analysts note that the elimination of high-profile commanders could significantly disrupt insurgent operations in the short term, though they caution that both groups retain the capacity to regroup. One analyst observed, “Decapitation strikes like this are important, but sustained pressure is required to consolidate gains and prevent retaliatory attacks.”
The latest development is seen as a morale boost for Nigerian forces and part of a broader pattern of intensified operations targeting insurgent strongholds in the North-East, as authorities continue efforts to restore stability to conflict-affected communities.
