The Lagos State Government has rolled out extensive traffic and security measures ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit, deploying more than 500 additional officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority to manage movement across the city.
The deployment, announced by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, is aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow, heightened security, and minimal disruption during the President’s stay.
Authorities said the officers will be stationed at major highways, key junctions, and project corridors linked to the President’s itinerary, where several infrastructure projects are scheduled for commissioning.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, confirmed that the personnel would focus on traffic control, congestion reduction, and enforcement of road regulations, particularly along routes expected to witness heavy vehicular movement.
The state government noted that the deployment forms part of a broader inter-agency coordination involving federal and state security bodies, designed to ensure a seamless and secure visit.
Residents have been advised to comply with traffic diversions, follow official advisories, and cooperate with traffic officers as temporary restrictions may be introduced across parts of the metropolis.
President Tinubu is expected to commission a number of landmark projects executed by the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, reinforcing ongoing infrastructure development efforts in Nigeria’s commercial hub.
