The National Museum in Lagos has undergone a major renovation following a partnership with IHS Nigeria, resulting in upgraded facilities and the introduction of a digital museum platform.
The refurbishment project focused on modernising the museum’s infrastructure while preserving its cultural and historical significance. Key upgrades include improved exhibition spaces, enhanced visitor experience areas, and the integration of digital technology to support broader access to Nigeria’s heritage.
A central feature of the renovation is the launch of Nigeria’s first digital museum of antiquities. The platform is designed to document and showcase historical artefacts, enabling both local and international audiences to explore the country’s cultural assets virtually.
Officials say the initiative is aimed at strengthening cultural preservation, promoting tourism, and ensuring that Nigeria’s rich heritage is accessible to a global audience in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
The partnership with IHS Nigeria reflects a growing trend of private sector involvement in the preservation and promotion of national heritage institutions.
