The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, has firmly denied allegations that he was offered a bribe to facilitate the impeachment of Governor Seyi Makinde, describing the claims as completely baseless and unfounded. Ogundoyin made this clarification amid growing rumors circulating on social media and within political circles, which suggested that certain individuals were attempting to influence members of the Assembly to initiate impeachment proceedings against the governor. He emphasized that no such offer was made to him or, to his knowledge, to any member of the House. The Speaker reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to upholding democratic principles and maintaining a transparent relationship with the executive arm of government. He stressed that the legislative body remains focused on its constitutional responsibilities rather than engaging in politically motivated distractions. He further urged the public to disregard the rumors and avoid spreading unverified information that could create unnecessary tension within the state. According to him, the House of Assembly continues to operate independently and in the best interest of the people of Oyo State.
