Samsung is reportedly preparing to launch the Galaxy Z Roll 5G, a smartphone featuring a motorized rollable display designed to eliminate the crease commonly found in foldable devices.
According to details released on April 12, 2026, the device will incorporate a rollable Dynamic AMOLED display capable of expanding up to 12.4 inches, allowing users to transition between a compact smartphone and a tablet-sized screen. The mechanism is expected to retract seamlessly, maintaining portability while offering a larger workspace for multitasking and media consumption.
The Galaxy Z Roll 5G is also expected to include built-in anti-side-viewing technology, aimed at enhancing user privacy by restricting screen visibility to direct viewing angles. This feature is intended for users handling sensitive information in public settings.
On the hardware side, the device is rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and storage options reaching 2TB. It will reportedly feature a 144Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 3,000 nits, along with an 8,000mAh battery supported by 100W fast charging.
In terms of photography, the smartphone is expected to include a 324-megapixel primary camera sensor, alongside a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with optical zoom capabilities. Reports also suggest ongoing development of higher-resolution sensors for future devices.
The build is said to include a titanium alloy body, with support for the S Pen stylus, targeting both productivity and creative use cases.
Samsung is expected to release the Galaxy Z Roll 5G in the second half of 2026, as part of its broader strategy to expand innovation in the foldable and rollable smartphone market.
