The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has received 181 Nigerian returnees from Tripoli, Libya, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, as part of ongoing repatriation efforts.
The returnees arrived on April 27, 2026, at about 8:13 p.m., through the airport’s cargo terminal aboard an Air Buraq flight under the Assisted Voluntary Return (AVR) programme coordinated by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in partnership with the Federal Government.
According to NEMA, the group comprised 159 adults (64 males and 95 females), 12 children, and 10 infants.
On arrival, officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service conducted biometric registration and proper documentation to support their reintegration into society.
The returnees were also provided with immediate humanitarian assistance, including food, potable water, medical care, ambulance services, logistics support, and counseling, ensuring a safe and dignified return process.
NEMA stated that the exercise was carried out smoothly through collaboration with relevant agencies, reaffirming the government’s commitment to the welfare and reintegration of stranded Nigerians abroad.
