The RMB Latitudes Art Fair has officially announced Nigeria as its “International Focus” country for the 2026 edition, placing Nigerian contemporary art at the center of one of Africa’s fastest-growing cultural showcases.
Organisers revealed that a curated selection of leading and emerging Nigerian artists will represent the country through a dedicated national pavilion during the fair, scheduled to hold in Johannesburg from May 22 to 24, 2026.
The initiative is expected to spotlight the depth, innovation, and global influence of Nigeria’s contemporary art scene, while creating new opportunities for collaboration between African galleries, collectors, curators, and international art institutions.
According to the fair’s organisers, the Nigerian pavilion will feature works spanning painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, and digital installations, reflecting the diversity and evolving identity of modern African artistic expression.
Art stakeholders have described the recognition as another major milestone for Nigeria’s creative industry, noting the increasing global demand for works by Nigerian artists and the country’s growing influence within the international art market.
The RMB Latitudes Art Fair has become one of Africa’s notable platforms for contemporary art exchange, attracting galleries, collectors, investors, and cultural enthusiasts from across the continent and beyond.
