ARASE, ITALIAN TRAINING CONSULTANT MEET IN ABUJA
…agrees on collaboration with Agency
Apart of efforts to improving the proficiency of the Nigeria police force, Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Solomon Arase says it has collaborated with an Italian Consulting Training Institute, Genoa and Genova.
Dr. Arase, a former Inspector General Police, spoke recently while receiving Dr. Antonio Lovecchio, a Knight of the Order of Malta Sovereign and consultant to the security training institutes in Abuja.
The Area of focus according to him, “artificial intelligence, and ICT to strengthen the Nigeria security system.”
The award winning retired police officer said the collaboration is aimed at boosting the man-power capacity in modern security techniques that will make the officers and men conform with the 21st century standard.
With a great determination to better the workings of the Nigeria Police Force, he stated, “The police will be equipped with modern security gadgets such as bullet proof, security helmet and others.”
Moving forward, Dr. Arase took time to explain the role of the commission to Dr Antonio Lovecchio who is the Italian security and training consultant.
He continued “As police force, we are responsible for recruitment, promotion, discipline of officers from constables to DIGS. As you know security in Nigeria are not the same, what is happening in the North East is different from what is happening in South South.
The security expert further explained that the approach differs but the commission has men and officers who are fully equipped to combat crime and criminality irrespective of the region.
“What matters, is result achieved. Even in Europe, there are still high rate of insecurity, but the ability of the European TV to manage it make it look as if there is no insecurity challenges in Europe.”
He assured the visitors that there will be adequate security for all investors who come to Nigeria to invest and improve the Nigeria economy.
Among those in the entourage were Solomon Okoduwa, Executive Director IYAMIDR and Mr Valentine Emeka Maduka who is the consultant to IYAMIDR Italy for the training of Nigeria Youths in various skills in Italy.
It would be recalled, under his leadership, men and officers of the Nigeria police force had remarkable improvement in their welfare, promotion and development.
This, he re-echoed upon assumption of office, “I am building a new Police Force that will once again be attractive to the Nigerian youths.
