The inauguration, which took place in Lagos, formed a major highlight of the summit organised by business development firm, Pertinence Group. Themed: “The Real Money of Lagos,” the event drew more than 7,000 participants, including students, entrepreneurs, professionals, and industry leaders, all seeking practical strategies for wealth creation in the face of inflation and rising unemployment.
Chairman of Pettysave Microfinance Bank and Co-founder of Pertinence Group, Dr Sunday Olorunsheyi, described the app as a groundbreaking tool designed to expand financial access for individuals and small businesses.
“Our mission is to create platforms for financial freedom. Genius is a tool that people can take advantage of to succeed. We don’t just complain about the economy; we provide solutions that update people’s lives, just like software updates,” he said.
He explained that the summit, now in its sixth year, has always prioritised impact over numbers. “For us, the excitement is not just about the crowd, but about the impact. People come here and return a different version of them. It’s like updating your software. By the time they come back next year, they will perform better.”
Olorunsheyi added that Pertinence platforms had supported the emergence of over 100 businesses in the past decade, with thousands of Nigerians benefitting from incentives including vehicles, home ownership, and international trips. Newspaper subscription bundles
Chairman of Coscharis Group, Dr Cosmas Maduka, who also addressed participants, urged young Nigerians to take responsibility for their future by embracing discipline and long-term vision. “Only a fool spends all he has. Start saving early, even from age five. What matters is access, relationships, and value creation. If I could make it, anyone can, but you must be willing to suffer the inconvenience of discipline,” he said, recounting his rise from street hawking at age 10 to building one of Nigeria’s largest conglomerates.
Co-founder, Wisdom Ezekiel, challenged the assumption that capital is the most important requirement for entrepreneurship. He emphasised resourcefulness as the real foundation for growth, recalling how he taught himself to read and write after leaving school at JSS2. Newspaper subscription bundles
“Resources will always follow resourceful people. If you are not resourceful, resources cannot follow you. They didn’t accept you today, show up tomorrow. Keep advancing, adjusting, and doing the right thing, you will get there,” he said.
Financial literacy advocate, Olumide Emmanuel, lauded the consistency of the Wealth Summit in equipping Nigerians with practical systems for financial progress. “This summit is bridging the wealth gap. It’s not just giving motivation, it’s showing people the systems and habits they need to move from where they are to where they want to be,” he said.
