Verve expands contactless card reach in Nigeria
Managing Director of Verve International, Vincent Ogbunude.
A major indigenous payment brand, Verve, has expanded the reach of its contactless card solution to boost transaction speed and convenience across Nigeria.
The company, in a statement made available on Wednesday, said the move would improve in-person payments for cardholders, especially in high-traffic locations such as supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants and fuel stations.
The Verve Contactless Card uses tap-and-go technology to reduce transaction time at payment terminals.
“At the core of this solution is the tap-and-go functionality, which significantly reduces transaction time at payment terminals.
“By enabling quicker checkouts, the Verve Contactless Card delivers a more efficient and seamless customer experience, particularly suited for high-traffic retail environments,” the statement read.
The company said the cards are now widely accepted on platforms such as Opay, PalmPay, Global Accelerex, Interswitch and Paystack.
Speaking on the development, Vincent Ogbunude, Managing Director of Verve International, said, “At Verve, we remain focused on pioneering secure, innovative payment solutions tailored to the evolving needs of our cardholders.
“The growing ecosystem of contactless acceptance points reflects our dedication to enhancing financial inclusion and optimising the payment experience.”
He added that all contactless transactions are PIN-authenticated to ensure user security, with the card embedded with advanced safety features to protect financial data.
“By integrating with multiple terminal providers, Verve not only strengthens its acceptance footprint but also empowers merchants with the tools to meet the rising demand for contactless payments — an increasingly preferred method among Nigerian consumers,” the statement added.
