Bamiloye unveils Mount Zion’s first stage play ever
Veteran gospel filmmaker and founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, Evangelist Mike Bamiloye, has shared a rare glimpse into the origins of the ministry by recounting the group’s very first stage drama, “Hell in Conference,” performed nearly four decades ago.
In a reflective social media post, Bamiloye revealed that the historic performance took place on July 10, 1986, marking the official launch of Mount Zion’s evangelical drama ministry.
The production, titled “Hell in Conference,” was a bold, musical stage play that featured over 50 performers, including cast members and a chorus group.
“This was the first time we would act this drama,” Bamiloye wrote. “And we have never acted it again after that first stage performance.”
At the heart of the production were Mike Bamiloye and his then-fiancée, Gloria, who both played central roles—Bamiloye as “Mr. Nigeria” and Gloria as “the Teacher.”
The couple would go on to marry two years later in 1988 and have since become pillars of Christian drama and film in Nigeria and beyond.
Bamiloye also noted that only one photograph from the original production has survived the passage of time, making it a treasured memory and symbol of the humble beginnings of what would become a globally recognised Christian drama ministry.
Mount Zion Faith Ministries has since grown to become a pioneering force in faith-based film production in Africa, with countless stage plays and movies that have impacted audiences worldwide.
