G-20: Tinubu, Biden meet to reinforce bilateral relationship
President Bola Tinubu has met with the US President, Joe Biden, and the duo discussed the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
A statement from the White House said the meeting was part of the sideline event for the two leaders at the G-20 leaders’ summit in New Delhi, India
The statement noted that the US authority disclosed that Biden welcomed the economic reform.
Also, the American president commended his Nigerian counterpart for his leadership prowess in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), citing his will to preserve and defend democracy and the rule of law in the Niger, the West African bloc and the black content at large was something to reckon with.
The US president then noted that Nigeria’s invitation to the G-20 summit was a result of the country’s recognition as the largest democracy and economic country in Africa.
“President Joe Biden met with Nigerian President Bola Tinubu today on the sidelines of the G20 in New Delhi, India, to reinforce our enduring commitment to the US-Nigeria relationship and the longstanding friendship between our two countries and peoples.”

Meanwhile, President Tinubu is today scheduled to meet with the leadership of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during a technical stopover in Abu Dhabi, UAE, following his departure from New Delhi, India.
The meeting will serve as a follow-up discussion to address specific, salient issues within the bilateral relationship after conversations held during a recent visit by the UAE Ambassador to the President at the State House in Abuja.
Nigeria and the UAE have recently had a long history of restriction of flights between both countries based on certain unresolved issues surrounding the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA). Visa restrictions later surfaced as diplomatic fireworks continued between Nigeria and the UAE, which is a top destination for Nigerian migrants and tourists.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, stated that Tinubu is expected to address lingering bilateral issues while maximizing the opportunity of the stopover to equally advance his investment promotion objectives with high-level authorities in the public and private sectors of the United Arab Emirates.
The statement said, “Following a successful investment drive on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit, active participation in the G-20 Summit, and a productive stopover in the UAE, the President is expected to return to Abuja immediately following the bilateral engagement.”
