Lagos set to play host to the seventh edition of the prestigious Africa Illustrious Awards, as distinguished personalities from across the continent prepare to converge for a celebration of excellence, leadership, and transformational impact.
The award ceremony is slated for June 6, 2026, at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos, with attendees expected from Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, Algeria, Egypt, and several other African nations.
According to the organisers, the event will assemble some of Africa’s brightest minds and most respected figures whose contributions in business, innovation, entrepreneurship, academia, technology, philanthropy, leadership, and public service have continued to drive growth and development across the continent.
The ceremony is also expected to include special honours for the Nigeria national football team and the Nigeria Olympic football team in recognition of their historic accomplishments and contributions to the global rise of African football.
Organisers explained that the recognition is intended to celebrate the enduring legacy of both teams, whose performances inspired millions of Africans and helped place Nigerian football firmly on the global stage.
Over the years, the Africa Illustrious Awards has evolved into one of the continent’s notable platforms dedicated to recognising individuals, brands, and institutions making remarkable impacts in their respective sectors.
The organisers further stated that this year’s edition will continue to spotlight excellence, visionary leadership, and achievements contributing to Africa’s global reputation and advancement.
