The Confederation of African Football (CAF) officially announced on Monday that Senegal will host the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
This marks a major vote of confidence in Senegal’s football infrastructure and organisational capabilities.
The upcoming tournament will mark the second time the West African nation has hosted the continent’s premier beach soccer competition. Senegal previously staged the event in 2021, where they also claimed the title on home sand.
Their familiarity with hosting at a high level, combined with passionate local support, is expected to create a vibrant and competitive atmosphere for players and fans alike.
Beyond continental glory, the 2026 Beach Soccer AFCON will carry significant stakes, as it will also function as the official qualifying pathway for the 2027 Beach Soccer World Cup.
The top-performing teams from the tournament will earn the right to represent Africa on the global stage, adding an extra layer of intensity to every match.
