      Uber has introduced a new hotel booking feature within its app as part of its strategy to evolve into a comprehensive “everything app.” The service, developed in partnership with Expedia, allows users to search and reserve hotel rooms from a selection of more than 700,000 properties. The feature integrates travel tools such as maps, filters, and pricing options, while enabling payments through saved card details already stored in the Uber platform. According to Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, the company is expanding beyond ride-hailing and food delivery to become a unified platform for a wide range of everyday services. Expedia CEO Ariane Gorin said the collaboration is aimed at simplifying travel planning and reducing the steps required to complete bookings. Uber also plans to extend the partnership to include short-term rental listings through Vrbo in the future. The move reflects a broader global trend toward multifunctional apps that combine services like transport, shopping, and payments in a single ecosystem, similar to platforms such as WeChat and Alipay in China. Other tech companies are also pursuing similar “super app” models, including Airbnb, which has added experiences and personal services, and X, which is exploring financial services integration. Uber further revealed plans to incorporate AI-powered tools, including meal planning, shopping list creation, delivery coordination, and a voice assistant for navigating the app.

    PRESS RELEASE

    Suspected Drug Addict, Hauwa Sa’idu aka Jaruma Rearrested, Remanded in Prison Custody

    Controversial aphrodisiac hawker and suspected drug addict, Hauwa Sa’idu Mohammed who also goes about with the name has been rearrested by the Nigeria Police. She was on Monday arraigned before the Upper Area Court, Zuba, FCT.
    Hauwa Sa’idu was arraigned on count of Defamation of Character, Injurious Falsehood, Hate Speech, Criminal Intimidation and Publication of False News with Intent to Cause Offence Against the Public Peace at the Court where she pleaded not guilty. Her counsel made an application for her bail and the court made an order for her to be remanded in prison custody till Friday the 28th day of January, 2022. Meanwhile, the substantive case has been adjourned to 23rd February, 2022.
    Prince Ned Nwoko, a former member of House of Representatives, had on January 20, 2022 petitioned the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police seeking the arrest and prosecution of Hauwa Sa’idu. He requested the Police to arrest and prosecute the notorious drug addict and courier who is also a self-styled seller of an aphrodisiac called kayanmata.

    Prince Ned Nwoko, through the petition, is requesting the Police to investigate Jaruma’s selling of unlincensed and unauthorized love potion to unsuspecting members of the public and her claim that her potion is responsible for the breakdown of his (Ned Nwoko’s) marriage to Laila Charani. He has debunked all the allegations being made by Jaruma through the media against him, Regina Daniels and his family as criminal acts designed to soil their good reputations in the eye of the unsuspecting public. Prince Ned Nwoko’s petition which was signed by one of his lawyers, Mr. Bryan U. Ukaegbu (Esq.) of P.P. TRIFOLD Law and Partners dated 20th January, 2022 was also copied to the Area Commander of the FCT Police Command.

    Hauwa Sa’idu was arrested, questioned and released on Friday 21st January by the Police. She was granted bail but soon after her release, she started posting videos through her Instagram page and other social media channels claiming that someone she abused used the Nigeria Police to bully her.

    Prince Ned Nwoko’s petition against the love potion seller averred inter alia that “It is our brief that one Hauwa Sa’idu Mohammed also known as ‘Jaruma’ the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jaruma_Empire, a few days ago started championing a crusade based on heinous vilification, calumniation and prevarication, targeted at peddling lies as well as rumuors against our client, capable of not only tarnishing his image but also inciting hatred of the public against our client”.

    The renowned Delta State-born philanthropist is specifically calling on the Police to investigate the following the controversial love portion peddler:

    i) Jaruma’s suspected criminal conducts;
    ii) her selling unlincensed and unauthorized love potion to unsuspecting members of the public;
    iii) her claim that her potion is responsible for the breakdown of his (Ned Nwoko’s) marriage to Laila Charani;
    iv) her illegal sale and use of “FORTWIN PERTRIDINE” to members of the public;
    v) medically examine through blood and urine samples to establish the presence of the said illegal drugs in her system;
    vi) her hate speech and cyber bullying against Ned Nwoko and his family;
    vii) any other infraction(s) as may be determined from time to time to time; and
    viii) ensure that the suspect is “fished out” be it in Nigeria or elsewhere, and if found guilty be repatriated (where necessary), made to remove all offensive and abusive posts on all media channels against Ned Nwoko and his family, tender a public apology to them in at least two national dailies and on all her social media platforms and be duly prosecuted.
