President Bola Tinubu
Members of Health Care Administrators Association of Nigeria, Benue State chapter, has called on President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to appoint only professionals and technocrats into his cabinet to enable him meet the high expectations of Nigerians.
The association made this call while briefing newsmen in Makurdi on Thursday.
The association’s Secretary, Pastor James Ogbaji, who read their text on behalf of the Chairman, Albert Ankyo, said further called on the Secretary to Government of Federation, SGF, Sen. George Akume and Governor Hyacinth Alia to support the candidacy of Emmanuel Akpakwu for a ministerial post from the state.
Ogbaji said HAAN was presenting Akpakwu as their preferred ministerial nominee from the state as he fits into the template of individuals usually appointed by the president in his former positions of authority.
He said, “You must have heard names of several politicians being touted as the likely ministerial appointees from Benue State.
“All of them may be qualified in their own way, some may have worked very hard or invested resources in the victory of the president and his party, some may be suitable quota candidates while many may be recommended by well connected personalities but we make bold to say that we have found a person, Mr Emmanuel Akpakwu, a technocrat of no mean repute.”
“We have found a big fish in the person of Mr. Emmanuel Oloja Akpakwu, a technocrat of no mean repute. We endorse him and do hereby recommend him for appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a minister in his cabinet.
“We are towing the path of numerous other individuals and organizations in Benue state and across Nigeria who have already endorsed and recommended Mr. Akpakwu for the position,” they said.
Speaking to newsmen after the briefing, the National President of the association, Bishop Pinot Ogbaji, said that the association did not mind if Akpakwu hails from Okpokwu, the same local government where former minister of Interior, Senator Abba Moro.
“What we need is a competent and dedicated person who can deliver and we found that in Akpakwu,” he said.
