Calvin Bassey Shines, Claims Fulham Player Of Season Award For 2024/25 Campaign
Calvin Bassey has won Fulham’s Player of the Season award for 2024/2025, topping the final round of voting with 39.6 percent support from supporters.
The Nigerian defender finished ahead of Alex Iwobi (21.5%), Antonee Robinson (19.9%), Bernd Leno (10.9%) and Saša Lukić (8.1%) to claim the honour after coming second in his debut campaign at Craven Cottage last year.
The 25-year-old centre-back proved instrumental in Fulham’s campaign, missing just three English Premier League matches whilst helping the club achieve a record points total in the top flight.
Bassey’s combination of pace, physicality and ability to bring the ball forward from defence became crucial elements in manager Marco Silva’s tactical approach throughout the season.
Beyond his defensive contributions, Bassey found the net twice in vital moments for the Cottagers. His winner against Nottingham Forest at home proved decisive in a tight contest, whilst his opener at Old Trafford helped Fulham claim a memorable Emirates FA Cup victory over Manchester United, adding another chapter to the club’s cup tradition.
On the announcement, Bassey thanked supporters for their recognition whilst crediting his faith and support network. “Thank you guys for voting me Player of the Season,” the former Rangers defender said. “I want to thank God – without God, I wouldn’t be where I am. Big up all my team, guys who are not necessarily at the Club, who have been helping me.”
The award caps a remarkable transformation for Bassey, who has established himself amongst the EPL’s most reliable defenders since his £20 million move from Glasgow Rangers in 2022. His consistent performances have drawn praise from Silva and teammates alike, with the manager frequently highlighting the defender’s professionalism and commitment to improving his game week after week.
