The candidate of the Young Progressives Party in the November 8, 2025, governorship election in Anambra State, Paul Chukwuma, on Friday, unveiled Uzo Okagbue as his running mate ahead of the election.

Okagbue, a native of Umunnachi community in Dunukofia Local Government Area of the State served as a Chief Protocol Officer to former governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano.

During the unveiling ceremony held at the YPP Secretariat in Udoka Housing Estate Awka, on Friday, Chukwuma said Okagbue was chosen as his running mate after a wide consultation with God, family members, clergies, party executives, and other relevant stakeholders across the 21 local government areas of the state.

He said, “We are confident that with Okagbue as our running mate and his long time grassroot mobilisation strategies, the YPP is fully positioned to take over power from the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance led by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

“Okagbue is a fitting choice for our progressive vision for Anambra State. he was chosen after extensive consultations with relevant stakeholders.”

In his acceptance speech, Okagbue, promised to utilise his political strategy to ensure that the party wins the November 8 governorship election and take over governance of the state from March 17, 2026.

He appreciated the party for finding him worthy of the position.

The event witnessed by other supporters of the party was officiated by the State Chairman, Moses Obi.

Okagbue, a graduate of Political Science at the University of Abuja, proceeded for his compulsory National Youth Service Corps from where he joined a new generation bank as a full staff at the end of his service year.

Upon the end of former Governor Obiano’s tenure in 2022, he remained a staff member of the bank in Abuja till his willful resignation in 2022, to focus on his private businesses.
