Victor Osimhen opened scoring in the 29th minute as Galatasaray beat Fenerbahce 2-1 at Rams Park, giving a crucial victory in the Turkish football rivalry.
Nigeria international Victor Osimhen scored twice in the first half to inspire Galatasaray to a 2-1 victory over rivals Fenerbahce at Rams Park on Monday.
The striker opened the scoring in the 29th minute, finishing off a move created by Baris Alper Yilmaz to give the hosts an early advantage in the keenly contested Turkish encounter.
Osimhen struck again in the 44th minute, converting another opportunity after an assist from Davinson Sanchez to send Galatasaray into the break with a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Fenerbahce responded after half-time and reduced the deficit in the 62nd minute through Irfan Can Kahveci, who found the net following a pass from Oguz Aydin.
The goal increased the pressure on the hosts, but Galatasaray managed to protect their advantage for the remainder of the match.
Both sides made changes as the contest progressed. Galatasaray introduced Rafael Leao for Yilmaz in the 64th minute, while Osimhen was withdrawn in the 88th minute and replaced by Wilfried Singo.
Leao received a yellow card in the 89th minute, while Fenerbahce defender Archie Brown was booked in the 90th minute as tensions remained high towards the end.
Galatasaray ultimately held on to claim the 2-1 win, securing bragging rights in one of Turkish football’s most fiercely contested rivalries.
The brace further highlighted Osimhen’s importance to Galatasaray, where his goalscoring ability has made him a key figure in the club’s attack.
The Nigerian forward scored 37 goals in all competitions during the 2024/25 season before joining Galatasaray permanently from Napoli in 2025, following a successful loan spell.
His latest performance against Fenerbahce provided another memorable moment for the club’s supporters and reinforced his reputation as a decisive presence in high-profile matches.
For Galatasaray, the victory offered a significant boost in their rivalry with Fenerbahce, while Osimhen’s two first-half goals proved decisive in a contest that became more tense after the visitors pulled one back.
