Dateline was on Sunday October 15, 2023 saw the unveiling of the sonorous and eclectic music diva Ashny, at the Montana Residence, GRA Ikeja, Lagos.
It was a massive event with several layers of engagement including the ASHNY brand showcase, the album listening, several videos launch, surprise birthday package, the ‘Ain’t Playing’ album launch and an unexpected proposal from her fiance.
ASHNY, born Ashionye Charity Edike from Delta state of Nigeria, who is a phenomenal voice box, actor and fashion designer shut down everywhere with her charismatic ‘Char Char’ band nicknamed from her name Charity. They gave live performances of several songs from the album that got the audience spellbound.
The music was invigorating, fresh, engaging and classy.Eedris Abdulkareem, Gbenga Adeyinka, Yaw, Dekunle Fuji, Jafextra, Dotun Adesua, Godwin Aruwayo, OTB, DJ Hotega amongst several other guest celebrities and notable VIP’s pulled a surprise attendance.
The performances by the hosts Coyman and Dynamic V., Bash, Jojo Bodybeats and Countryman held everyone locked.
The *Ashny Ain’t Playing* Album is a 10 track masterpiece that has a genius touch in sonic projection from producers like Lychy, Lowkeyz, Sossick and Daihard beats.Songs from the album are written by Ashny and the project producer and director, Koffi Tha Guru who is also the brand manager and A&R.
Koffi Tha Guru, who is also the only African entertainer and comedian to have an award in every field of entertainment announced at the event that one of the hit singles from the album ‘OVERCOME’ will soon be made expansively into a movie ‘Birth Of A Nightingale’ starring Ashny as the lead character alongside Yinka Davies, Yaw and many others.
Ashny Ain’t Playing is an Afropop and soul body of work that captures true life, love, family, fun, groove, desire, pain, celebration, fulfilment, consciousness and some other emotions that puts the musical contraption in a class with the masters.
