Nollywood actor Sanusi Izihaq, popularly known as Apa, has opened up about the challenges he has faced in the movie industry and the reason he is still in Nollywood today.

Speaking on the Talk to B podcast with actress Biola Bayo, the former Continuity Manager-turned-actor credited fellow actor Ibrahim Chatta for preventing him from quitting acting.

“Big shoutout to Ibrahim Chatta. I would have left Nollywood if not for him,” Apa revealed.

He recalled an incident where a director, whom he had never worked with but who had only heard of him, vowed to make life difficult for him. The situation became tense, leading Apa to feel overwhelmed in what he described as a “toxic working environment.”

“I became emotional and started crying,” he admitted. “Ibrahim Chatta has seen me crying two to three times and always asked what happened. Each time I told him I wanted to leave the industry, he would advise and encourage me instead.”

According to Apa, he had left filmmaking on three different occasions, but Chatta always brought him back, offering him roles in his projects to ensure he stayed in the industry.
