The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has scheduled its national convention for April 14, 2026, as part of a nationwide restructuring process aimed at reorganising the party’s leadership and strengthening its political structures ahead of future electoral contests.
Party officials confirmed that preparations for the convention are already underway, with consultations ongoing across state chapters to ensure broad participation by delegates and stakeholders from across the federation.
According to party sources, the convention will serve as a platform for the election of new national officers and the ratification of reforms intended to reposition the party within Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
A senior official of the party said the decision to convene the gathering reflects the ADC’s commitment to internal reorganisation and renewed engagement with its grassroots structures.
“The national convention is an important step in strengthening the institutional framework of the party,” the official said. “It will provide members the opportunity to collectively determine the direction of the ADC and elect leaders who will drive the party’s vision going forward.”
The move comes amid increasing political activity across opposition parties as preparations gradually begin for the next electoral cycle in Nigeria.
