MFM, the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, has suspended all vigils and overnight programmes across its branches nationwide, citing growing security concerns in the country.

The directive, contained in an internal memo dated June 5, 2026, was issued by the Director of Administration at the church’s International Headquarters in Lagos, Temitope A. Olawale.

According to the memo, all church programmes must now end on or before 8:00 p.m. until further notice as part of precautionary measures aimed at protecting members.

The church explained that the decision was informed by the prevailing security situation across the country and the need to prioritise the safety and well-being of worshippers.

It directed that where necessary, vigils should be converted into evening prayer meetings and concluded no later than 8:00 p.m.

“Where necessary, vigils may be converted to evening prayer programmes and must be concluded on or before 8:00 p.m.,” the memo stated.

MFM emphasised that the measures were purely precautionary and not intended to disrupt spiritual activities, stressing that the safety of members remains paramount.

“These measures are purely precautionary and are intended to safeguard the lives and well-being of our members in the face of the current security situation in the country,” the church said.

The ministry also directed all its ministers, groups, and departments nationwide to strictly comply with the directive pending further review.

The development comes amid growing concerns over insecurity in parts of the country, including incidents of kidnappings, violent attacks and other security threats that have heightened anxiety among citizens and organisations.
