Governor Dauda Lawal Emerges APC Consensus Governorship Candidate For Zamfara 2027 Election

      May 22, 2026

Headline: Fubara Withdraws From Rivers APC Governorship Primaries, Cites Peace and Unity Paraphrase: Siminalayi Fubara has pulled out of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries ahead of the 2027 Rivers State election, saying his decision was driven by the need to preserve peace, stability, and unity in the state. In a statement he personally signed and sent to journalists, Fubara explained that the move followed deep reflection and consultations with family members, political associates, and supporters. He stressed that leadership sometimes requires personal ambition to be set aside for the broader interest of the people. The governor said Rivers State’s stability must come before any individual political goal, adding that his withdrawal should not be seen as weakness or surrender but as a deliberate sacrifice for unity and progress. Although he did not give full details, he hinted at underlying political pressures and tensions, noting that not every political issue is openly discussed. He also pledged support for whoever eventually emerges as the APC candidate in the primaries. Fubara expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and APC leaders for their support during the process, while reassuring his supporters that his commitment to serving Rivers State remains unchanged until the end of his tenure.

Healthline: See What Happens When You Mistakenly Eat Watermelon Seed ?

    By Adeniyi Ifetayo

We’ve all had days where we’ve been innocently noshing on a juicy slice of watermelon only to suddenly find ourselves crunching down on a pesky watermelon seed. Part of us feels a moment of panic What happens when you accidentally eat a watermelon seed? while the other half tries to quickly spit it out. But fear not, consuming a watermelon seed is unlikely to have any adverse effects on your health, and should actually provide some additional nutritionally benefits.
According to healthline, Watermelon seeds are highly nutritious and are a source of healthy fats and a variety of essential vitamins and minerals. A quarter cup, or 37 grams, of raw, shelled watermelon seeds contains nearly 168 calories, 5.6 grams of protein, 5.3 grams of carbohydrates and 14.4 grams of fat. They also contain a wide range of valuable micronutrients, such as magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, iron and copper. Additionally, shelled seeds are a decent source of fiber and a good source of the important B vitamins thiamin and folate.
When it comes to the health benefits of watermelon seeds, the evidence is still inconclusive. Some studies indicate that the seeds may help reduce inflammation, promote good digestion and contain “heart-healthy” fats, or omega-3 fatty acids. As a source of essential fatty acids, they may protect the body from oxidative stress and chronic diseases such as cancer and diabetes. Watermelon seeds are also a source of the potent antioxidant, cucurbitacin. Test tube studies have demonstrated that cucurbitacin may have anticancer and anti-inflammatory properties, and could help lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes.
What’s more, even if consuming watermelon seeds isn’t likely to cause any immediate harm, there’s a chance that their nutritional benefits may carry more significance in the long-term. This is because, according to a small study conducted on China’s elderly population, individuals who ate watermelon seeds had a longer lifespan than those who didn’t.
On the other hand, there are certain risks that could be associated with the consumption of watermelon seeds. Studies have indicated that eating too much of them could cause the development of kidney stones. The excessive intake of magnesium, calcium and phosphorus found in the seeds could be to blame for this. It’s also possible that eating too many of them could encourage unhealthy weight gain, as the seeds are high in both fat and calories. Overconsumption of watermelon seeds could also lead to an upset stomach, bloating and stomach ache.
When it comes to the question of what happens when you accidentally eat a watermelon seed, it really depends on the individual. Watermelon seeds are often safe to eat and even have the potential to benefit health. However, ovedosage could result in some unwanted side effects. It’s probably wise to limit the amount of watermelon seeds you consume, and make sure they’re always cooked before eating.
Overall, consuming an occasional watermelon seed is unlikely to have any ill-effects on your health, and may even provide some potentially beneficial nutrients. Just stay mindful of potential overdosage and chew with caution.
