2nd Year Anniversary: Family, Friends Honour Late Capt Hosa In Uk
The family, friends and business associates of Late business mogul and philanthropist, Capt (Dr) Idahosa Wells Okunbo , Tuesday gathered to honour him at a quiet reception held in London, United Kingdom to mark his second year memorial anniversary.
Last Sunday a special memorial church thanksgiving service was also held at the Light House Holy Trinity Finchley, London, and was presided over by Pastor Itua Ighodalo which had the theme, “Still Thanking God” to celebrate the life and times of one of Nigeria greatest humanist and industrialist.
The thanksgiving church service and reception brought together family members, business associates, well-wishers and friends from far and near.
Speaking at reception, first son to late Capt Hosa, Mr Osahon Okunbo, in his welcome address described his departed father as a “ cherished friend and an extraordinary individual” who impacted in the lives of many adding that the family are united in the exemplary life their late father lived.
He said the absence of their father was a test of their resolve to continue to forge unity which he attributed to God’s mercy to keep the family more united.
“We gathered here today to commemorate the second year anniversary of our great father, a cherished friend and an extra-ordinary individual. Let reflect on the lives he lived and the profound impact he left in every one of us.
“Two years on, we only have God to give glory to. It has been a roller coaster emotion , a test of our collective resolve and patience and most of all, a test of our unity as a family, a test with gratitude to God almighty , the attendance here with everybody been together shows we passed.
“Our hearts remain heavy with the void that he left behind but we take solace in the precious memory we hold dear of him, lessons his life thought us and the values he imbedded in every one of us.
“Capt Hosa was a pillar of strength, an unwavering source of love, and a beacon of wisdom that guided us through life challenges, his presence may no longer be physical but his spirit still dwell within us, inspiring us to be resilience , courageous but importantly compassionate.
On his part, Mr Greg Uanseru, a blossom friend and business associate described the late Capt as a generous man whose act of giving knows no bound noting that he would be remembered for the lives he impacted.
Also, the Nigeria Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Mr Sarafa Isola, also recalled Capt’s relentless effort towards the return of artefacts back to Benin Kingdom saying the Oba had wished Capt was alive to witness the returns of the artefacts.
He also urged the family to keep and sustain spirit of unity and bond as demonstrated.
Other present at the memorial anniversary include, former Governor of Borno state, Senator Modu Sheriff, representative of the Olu of Warri, Chief Richmond McGray, Pastor Itua Ighodalo and Tony Odigie among other personalities.
Late Capt Hosa died on August 8th, 2021 in the United Kingdom at age of 63. He was buried in his home town in Benin City, Edo State.
