Leadership impact as Clement and Others Emerge Winners of 2024 RootsWatch LGA Excellence Award

In a gala event that reverberated with joy and admiration, over 20 local government chairpersons from different states across the nation were recognized for their outstanding service. The occasion marked a celebration of their achievements, just nine months into their respective tenures.
Honorable Clement Asuelimhen, Chairman of Igueben LGA in Edo State, stood out among the honorees, his profile brimming with remarkable accomplishments in a remarkably short timeframe. As his citation was read out, the hall erupted in thunderous applause and cheers, a testament to the impact of his leadership.
During the project site visits, that led up to being honored with the award, several notable accomplishments were observed, including the completion of the Idumogo Bridge within three months of assuming office, the inauguration of the Okalo Health Center powered by solar energy, and the installation of a borehole project in Idumowu Ebelle. Furthermore, ongoing construction work on the trailer park at Afuda promises to further enhance infrastructure and services within the community.
Joined by other worthy counterparts from states such as Lagos, Bauchi, Anambra, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River, and 4 other awardees from Edo State, the awardees pledged to redouble their efforts and continue their dedicated service to their communities.
The awards, presented by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Humanitarian Affairs, Honorable Delu Yakubu, underscored the importance of grassroots leadership in national development.
Rootswatch Magazine, known for its focus on grassroots issues, initiated the event as part of its ongoing mission to recognize excellence at the local level. Since 2016, the magazine has been honoring outstanding local government chairpersons from across Nigeria.
Prince Bayode Ojo, the National Coordinator of the awards, expressed his delight at the success of the program, noting that it began with a call for nominations in national dailies and culminated in an inspiring display of grassroots leadership.
The 2024 RootsWatch LGA Excellence Award ceremony not only celebrated past achievements but also served as a catalyst for renewed dedication to improving the lives of citizens at the grassroots level.
