LG electronics Nigeria bags awards in innovation

LG Electronics Nigeria has continued to earn recognition for its innovative and customer-focused products. In 2024, the company achieved significant milestones, receiving accolades from prestigious organizations and publications.

On September 26, the company was honoured at the Media Consortium Conference and Awards, held at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Ikeja. LG Electronics was recognized for its ground-breaking innovations and unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction.

The recognition followed LG’s victory in multiple categories during the annual event, which explored the theme, “Meeting the Brands/Consumers’ Expectations in a Challenging Economy.”

Yinka Adebayo, Group Executive Director at Omnicom Media Group- WeCA, at the event, emphasized the alignment of brand and consumer expectations to forge enduring relationships, stating that LG Electronic Nigeria has been at the forefront of innovation and customer-centric household electronics that has made it the choice of many Nigerians.

Further cementing its leadership in the Nigerian market, LG Electronics won the Smart Tech & Innovation Leadership Award at the Entertainment Media Technology and Arts (EMTA) Conference and Awards, organized by BAO Live. The recognition highlighted LG’s impact on the intersection of technology, creativity, and consumer engagement.

On October 31st 2024, LG Electronics also emerged as Nigeria’s Leading Global Electronics and Home Appliance Brand of the Year at the National Quality Conference (NQC).

The Award Research Council Technical Committee presented LG with the NQC-CQA Super Seal Gold Certificate and a gold-plated plaque, celebrating its contributions to innovation and quality in Nigeria’s electronics market.

Similarly, LG Electronics was honoured as the “Outstanding Refrigeration Brand of the Decade” at the prestigious 2024 EDGE Awards, hosted by Marketing Edge Magazine.

Commenting on the accolades, Mr. Hari Elluru, Head of Corporate Marketing at LG Electronics, remarked that the recognition validates the company’s positive impact on millions of Nigerians through energy-efficient, innovative, and sustainable products. “These awards reaffirm our commitment to exceeding consumer expectations with high-quality, reliable, and sustainable solutions,” Elluru said.

Elluru also emphasized LG’s dedication to sustainability, noting the company’s strides in reducing carbon footprints and promoting eco-friendly practices. “At LG, innovation and sustainability are at the heart of what we do, and we are proud to set new standards for environmentally friendly solutions,” he added.

LG Electronics Nigeria’s local success mirrors the global accomplishments of the company. At the 2024 CES Innovation Awards, the company received 33 recognitions, including 11 for its OLED TVs, which have been award-winners for 12 consecutive years. Other LG’s products awarded at the event include its Soundbars, XBOOM Portable Speakers, and Smart TV webOS apps.

In design and innovation, LG shone at the 2024 Red Dot Awards, securing 28 honors for products such as TVs, air conditioners, washing machines and Dryers. Similarly, at the iF Design Awards 2024, LG bagged 29 accolades, including recognition for the LG Signature Washer-Dryer, StandbyMe Go, and Artcool air conditioner.

The company’s reputation for excellence was further reinforced at International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) 2024, where LG earned 23 design awards, including two Gold Awards for innovative and inclusive product designs, including the LG Therma V™ R290 Monobloc heat pump among others.

LG’s commitment to energy efficiency also earned it the 2024 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year award. The achievements showcase LG Electronics continued focus on pushing technological boundaries while maintaining a consumer-centric approach.

In 2024, LG Electronics ranked 97th on the Best Global Brands report with a brand value of approximately $6.5 billion. This recognition underscores its consistent delivery of cutting-edge solutions that resonate with consumers worldwide.

From Nigeria to the global stage, LG Electronics continues to set benchmarks in innovation, customer satisfaction, and sustainability, proving that a commitment to excellence and adaptability can drive lasting success.

On October 10, LG was ranked 97th with a brand value of approximately USD 6.5 billion in the Best Global Brands 2024 report by global brand consulting firm Interbrand.

Interbrand’s evaluation of the Best Global Brands assesses brand value through a comprehensive analysis of a company’s financial performance, role of brand and brand strength. Factors such as direction, engagement and relevance are considered. As a pioneer in the industry, Interbrand’s ISO-certified evaluation criteria are widely regarded as the most reliable methodology in branding and marketing.

LG’s brand value has surged, reflecting significant improvements in both business and brand competitiveness compared to the previous year. LG’s brand value increased by a substantial 38.7 percent year-over-year, receiving high scores in the categories of role of brand and brand strength.

Interbrand attributes this positive assessment to LG’s clear vision as a Smart Life Solution Company and its sustained growth through the exploration of new opportunities. The company has also adapted its brand strategies to ensure consistent customer engagement across diverse regions and generations, utilizing communication methods that resonate with audiences both online and offline.

In July of last year, LG unveiled its vision to evolve into a “Smart Life Solution Company,” enhancing customer experiences across various environments, including homes, commercial spaces, mobility and virtual realms. Since embarking on its transformation, LG’s brand value has skyrocketed. From approximately USD 3.1 billion in 2022, it has more than doubled to about USD 6.5 billion in 2024.

Interbrand has also praised LG’s “Brand Reinvent” initiative, which aims to establish LG as a youthful and dynamic brand that resonates with customers across generations and regions.

To achieve this, LG has unified its brand message under the brand promise of “Life’s Good,” ensuring it is embraced by all organizations globally and integrated into every customer touch point of brand experience. This includes redefining its brand identity and visual expression. “Life’s Good” encapsulates the brand’s mission to help everyone savor life’s precious moments through its products, services and communications. In the digital realm, the brand symbol “Face of the Future” engages customers with a friendly smile and wink, fostering a sense of connection through various digital expressions.

In addition, LG is launching brand campaigns and pop-up events that invite future customers, particularly Generation Z, to engage both online and offline.

The global campaign “Optimism your feed” aims to spread positivity through online algorithms, encouraging a better life with an optimistic outlook. This initiative garnered significant attention, amassing over 1.8 billion views within two months of its launch on platforms like YouTube and TikTok.

Moreover, LG is going to keep enhancing its engagement with Generation Z by creating offline customer experience spaces that reflect young customers’ interests, such as lifestyle, games and music.

LG has previously been recognized as one of the top 100 global brands for three consecutive years from 2005 to 2007.

“We are transforming from a leading home appliance and consumer electronics company into a Smart Life Solution Company. As part of this transformation, we’ve initiated our brand reinvention based on our long-standing promise, ‘Life’s Good,’” said William Cho, CEO of LG Electronics.

“At this historical moment of business transformation, we are proud to be recognized as one of the top 100 global brands, a testament to our strong brand presence and growth potential.

LG Electronics is a global innovator in technology and consumer electronics with a presence in almost every country and an international workforce of more than 74,000. LG’s four companies – Home Appliance & Air Solution, Home Entertainment, Vehicle component Solutions and Business Solutions – combined for global revenue of over KRW 84 trillion in 2023. LG is a leading manufacturer of consumer and commercial products ranging from TVs, home appliances, air solutions, monitors, automotive components and solutions, and its premium LG SIGNATURE and intelligent LG ThinQ brands are familiar names world over.
