    “Last Man Standing and Still Standing: Tinubu Smashes National Records In First Few Days of Presidency”

    “Last Man Standing and Still Standing: Tinubu Smashes National Records In First Few Days of Presidency”

    Just a few days after winning the presidential elections, President Tinubu paid a personal visit to Tony Elumelu to express his gratitude, and as he stepped out of his house to greet the then-President-elect, the Multibillionaire said, “The last man standing”, and Tinubu replied with all smiles “and still standing.”

    “Last Man Standing” and “Still Standing” can be seen as expressions of perseverance and the ability to withstand challenges or difficult situations. It conveys the idea of remaining strong and resilient even when faced with adversity.

    Now if we bring the context of the meaning behind Elumelu’s comment which was “The Last Man Standing” we probably would place it under a competitive note like; “the last man standing” can refer to the ultimate winner or the person who outlasts or outperforms others in a competition or challenge. The value associated with this interpretation is often tied to success, victory, and the satisfaction of being the best or achieving a particular goal.

    Then let us look at Tinubu’s reply, “and still standing.”

    “The phrase ‘and still standing’ represents the unwavering resilience to overcome obstacles, the enduring spirit to persist in the face of adversity, and the inner strength to maintain integrity and stability, inspiring others to rise above challenges and emerge stronger.”

    Tinubu’s response makes it clear that the fight is still ongoing. It is the fight to reclaim Nigeria, to relieve citizens of their burdens, and to remove all obstacles that have been put in the way of the nation’s progress by monsters hiding under the guise of double foreign exchange rates, questionable subsidies, and other such things.

    We can barely keep up with the rapid pace at which President Tinubu is signing populist bills into law. These transformative bills have opened up new avenues, allowing even financially challenged Nigerians to fund their education. Additionally, the recent electricity bill he signed has broken the monopoly in electricity production and distribution.

    This has led to increased electrification rates, benefiting rural communities with improved access to electricity. President Tinubu’s swift actions in enacting these bills are bringing tangible advantages, empowering the common man, and propelling progress in education and electricity sectors.

    Yes, Tinubu is the last man standing, and under his leadership, Nigerians have a RENEWED hope of restoration and a new hope of progress. For example, Nigerians asked why there was no single strike to oppose the removal of fuel subsidies, and I asked how there could be a strike when the President himself is leading the negotiations.

    The President met with the leadership of NANs the next day after the Higher Education Bill was passed; how many presidents get to sit down with such student organisations and discuss educational progress?

    Nigerian citizens should be optimistic in the government’s ability to restore hope amongst its people because of several reasons.

    Firstly, there is a growing recognition of the need for positive change, evidenced by the government’s efforts to address pressing issues such as corruption, security, and economic development.

    Secondly, there are visible signs of progress, including infrastructure development, social intervention programs, and initiatives aimed at improving education and healthcare.

    Thirdly, the government is actively engaging with citizens through participatory processes, seeking their input and feedback to shape policies and programs. Moreover, there is a renewed focus on youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and job creation, demonstrating a commitment to fostering economic opportunities and reducing unemployment.

    Finally, international partnerships and collaborations are being forged to access expertise, resources, and support, indicating a broader commitment to national development. These factors collectively contribute to the growing optimism that the government can bring about positive change, restore hope, and improve the lives of Nigerian citizens.

     

    Nigeria Deserves Better.
