On Tuesday, 15 September 2026, ValueJet, in partnership with Ogun State-owned Gateway Air, began a daily service linking Abuja with Gateway International Airport in Iperu, Ogun State, through Lagos.
The Abuja-Lagos-Gateway route is meant to improve access to Ogun State’s commercial and industrial corridor and give passengers from the Federal Capital Territory an alternative to the road.
ValueJet Managing Director Omololu Majekodunmi said the early-morning timetable was built for people with tight diaries. “Our daily Abuja–Lagos–Gateway service is about giving our passengers their day back. Whether you are travelling for business or personal engagements in Ogun State and its environs, the service provides a route that fits around a busy schedule,” Omololu Majekodunmi said in a statement.
The flight leaves Abuja at 6:30am, so travellers heading for meetings, factory visits, government appointments and other work in Ogun State can arrive early and keep most of the day free.
Ogun State has become a busy industrial and commercial destination, with factories, industrial estates, logistics firms, farms, housing schemes and economic zones across the state.
Closeness to Lagos and the spread of new businesses have increased demand for air links. Gateway International Airport offers another way in for passengers who would otherwise stay on the highway.
Ogun State Commissioner for Transportation Olugbenga Dairo said the government was answering that demand. “Gateway Air services speak to the growing demand of residents, businesses, and visitors in Ogun State for air connectivity to major commercial and population centres across the country,” Olugbenga Dairo said.
Olugbenga Dairo added that Governor Dapo Abiodun had directed the airline to keep reviewing its schedule and fleet as passenger needs change.
For ValueJet, the route adds to its domestic network and airline partnerships. ValueJet also flies regionally to Accra and Banjul.
The airline said recent fleet additions, including Boeing 737NG and CRJ-series aircraft, would support the extra flying.
