Uber has introduced a new hotel booking feature within its app as part of its strategy to evolve into a comprehensive “everything app.” The service, developed in partnership with Expedia, allows users to search and reserve hotel rooms from a selection of more than 700,000 properties. The feature integrates travel tools such as maps, filters, and pricing options, while enabling payments through saved card details already stored in the Uber platform. According to Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, the company is expanding beyond ride-hailing and food delivery to become a unified platform for a wide range of everyday services. Expedia CEO Ariane Gorin said the collaboration is aimed at simplifying travel planning and reducing the steps required to complete bookings. Uber also plans to extend the partnership to include short-term rental listings through Vrbo in the future. The move reflects a broader global trend toward multifunctional apps that combine services like transport, shopping, and payments in a single ecosystem, similar to platforms such as WeChat and Alipay in China. Other tech companies are also pursuing similar “super app” models, including Airbnb, which has added experiences and personal services, and X, which is exploring financial services integration. Uber further revealed plans to incorporate AI-powered tools, including meal planning, shopping list creation, delivery coordination, and a voice assistant for navigating the app.

Davidpeter Ebikabowei Alamieyeseigha, a 13-year-old student at Charles Dale Memorial International School in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has made history by being declared the WORLD AWARD WINNER IN SCIENCE at the iSTEM 2024 Grand Final Ceremony.

This prestigious event, held at the World Forum in the city of Hague, Netherlands, brought together over 117 countries to celebrate the brightest young minds in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

Born and raised in the United States, Davidpeter’s journey to becoming a World Award Winner began when he moved back to his home country of Nigeria in 2014. He joined Charles Dale Memorial International School in Year 2 and quickly showed a passion for science and a natural aptitude for understanding complex concepts.

His teachers were amazed by his dedication and enthusiasm for learning, and they knew he was destined for greatness.

Davidpeter’s journey towards excellence was not without its challenges.

However, with the support and guidance of his teachers at Charles Dale, he overcame these obstacles and thrived in his studies.

In preparation for the iSTEM 2024 competition, Davidpeter put in countless hours of hard work and dedication. He chose to focus on a project that explored the use of renewable energy in developing countries, with a particular emphasis on Nigeria. His project impressed the judges, and he was chosen to represent his school and country at the Grand Final Ceremony in Netherlands.

Competing against students from other prestigious schools across the globe, Davidpeter stood out with his exceptional presentation skills, in-depth knowledge, and innovative ideas.

He secured the top spot in the Science Category and was declared the WORLD AWARD WINNER IN SCIENCE.

This remarkable achievement not only highlights Davidpeter’s academic brilliance but also showcases the high-quality education provided by Charles Dale Memorial International School.

The school’s principal, Mr. Charles Dale, expressed his pride and joy at Davidpeter’s accomplishment. He said, “We are extremely proud of Davidpeter, and this achievement is a testament to the school’s commitment to nurturing future STEM leaders. We believe in providing our students with a well-rounded education that combines academic excellence with practical and creative learning experiences. This recognition is a testament to that belief.”

Davidpeter’s success at the iSTEM 2024 Grand Final Ceremony is a momentous occasion not just for him and Charles Dale Memorial International School, but for Bayelsa , Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole. It showcases the immense potential of Nigerian students and their ability to compete on a global stage.

As Davidpeter continues to excel in his academic journey, he serves as an inspiration to his peers and a shining example of what can be achieved with hard work and determination.

Davidpeter Ebikabowei Alamieyeseigha’s World Award win in Science is a true testament to his dedication, hard work, and the quality of education provided by Charles Dale Memorial International School.

We congratulate him on this remarkable achievement and wish him all the best for his future endeavors. With young minds like Davidpeter leading the way, we are confident that the future of STEM in Nigeria is in safe hands.
