Nigerian media mogul Mo Abudu is set to deepen her global influence as the EbonyLife brand prepares to launch EbonyLife Place London, a major cultural and creative hub dedicated to amplifying African storytelling and entrepreneurship in the United Kingdom. The new venture, situated in the heart of London, is designed as a multi-purpose space that will serve as a meeting point for filmmakers, content creators, investors, and creatives of African descent. The project reflects EbonyLife’s long-standing mission to project authentic African narratives onto the global stage while creating sustainable opportunities within the creative economy. Speaking on the development, Abudu emphasized that the initiative is more than just a physical space, describing it as “a home for African creatives in the diaspora and a bridge connecting talent from Africa to the rest of the world.” She added that the hub would foster collaboration, innovation, and access to global markets, noting that “the time has come for African stories to take their rightful place at the center of global conversations.” EbonyLife Place London is expected to host film screenings, industry events, training programmes, and business incubation initiatives aimed at nurturing emerging talent while supporting established creators. The facility will also provide networking opportunities for stakeholders across film, television, fashion, and digital media. Industry analysts say the move signals a strategic expansion of EbonyLife’s footprint beyond Nigeria and reinforces the growing global appetite for African content. By establishing a permanent presence in one of the world’s leading creative capitals, the brand is positioning itself as a key player in shaping how African stories are produced, distributed, and consumed internationally. The launch marks another milestone in EbonyLife’s evolution from a Nigerian-based media company into a globally recognized creative powerhouse, underscoring Abudu’s vision of building platforms that not only tell African stories but also empower the people behind them.

FG accepts rebranding of 9mobile to T2 as boost to telecom sector

    Tijani Olatunbosun

The Federal Government has shown strong support for the rebranding of 9mobile to T2, describing it as a major boost to Nigeria’s telecommunications sector.

The rebranding from 9mobile to T2 comes as part of the company’s strategy to reposition itself in the competitive Nigerian telecom market. This move is supported by key developments such as the three-year national roaming agreement signed with MTN Nigeria, which significantly expands T2’s network reach and enhances service quality for its customers.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, said the unveiling of the new brand underscores the progress Nigeria’s telecom sector has made and its readiness for further growth and innovation.

“With the sustainability of Nigeria’s telecom sector now firmly on track, yesterday we celebrated another milestone, the unveiling of the new T2 brand, formerly 9mobile,” Tijani said in a statement.

The Minister highlighted the role of President Bola Tinubu’s administration in strengthening the telecom foundation. Through progressive policies, investor-friendly reforms, and strategic public infrastructure projects such as Project Bridge, a 90,000-kilometre fibre rollout, and the deployment of 7,000 rural telecom sites, the government aims to connect over 20 million underserved Nigerians and expand digital access across the country.

“A sustainable sector attracts more private investment, and when this is combined with the government’s own infrastructure rollout, we will see a significant improvement in quality of experience, bringing us closer to providing every Nigerian access to meaningful and affordable connectivity,” Tijani wrote.

Operators have connected more than 220 million mobile lines and increased broadband penetration to nearly half the population, supported by over $75bn in investments in the last 20 years.

He further noted that the synergy between private sector investments and government infrastructure projects is expected to deepen Nigeria’s digital economy, projecting its contribution to the country’s gross domestic product to rise to over 20 per cent within the next two to five years.

The Minister described the rebirth of T2 as a strong signal of renewed investor confidence and a sector poised to deliver enhanced competition, innovation, inclusion, and prosperity.

“Nigeria’s best digital years are still ahead, and together, we are building them,” he said, offering congratulations to the chairman, board, and management of T2.
