LAS VEGAS — Global music icon Céline Dion has officially joined TikTok, announcing to her followers that she intends to take a more personal and “hands-on” approach to her digital presence.
In an introductory video posted Monday, the 57-year-old singer appeared in a black “CELINE” sweatshirt to share her transition to the platform. Dion attributed the move to the encouragement of her three sons: René-Charles, 24, and 15-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy.
”My name is Céline. How old am I? I’ve got kids,” she stated in the clip. Recalling the conversation with her children, she added, “We have to get you on TikTok.”
The singer expressed humor regarding her new social media status, stating: “On TikTok? I’ve heard that before. Suddenly I’m becoming cool. Céline Dion is cool. That’s amazing. TikTok, here I come. Ciao.”
Social Media Strategy
Dion’s account, which already boasts 4.7 million followers, was previously managed primarily by her professional team. In an accompanying caption, the singer clarified that she would be more involved in the content creation process moving forward.
”They told me, ‘Céline, it’s time…’ I asked, ‘Time for what?’ Turns out… something completely new,” Dion wrote. “My team then said they’d handle everything, handed me back my phone, and then quietly disappeared. So here I am, learning how this TikTok world works… one video at a time!”
New Year’s Address
The TikTok launch follows a recent New Year’s message shared with her 9.5 million Instagram followers, where the singer offered a message of resilience and gratitude.
”As we welcome this New Year, I want to take a moment to send you all my love. May this year bring you good health, happiness, and peace in your heart,” she wrote. “I hope you find laughter in the little things, strength in the hard times, and joy in the memories you create with those you love.”
Dion concluded her message by thanking her global fanbase for “keeping me in your hearts,” adding, “You are always in mine. From my family to yours, I just want to wish you, a Happy New Year.”
The Canadian superstar shares her three children with her late husband and longtime manager, René Angélil, who passed away in 2016.
