Birthday: Bash Ali reveals on 68th, how he moved from Millionaire in dollars to ‘Zeronaire’ in naira, aiming presidency

    Boxing Icon Bash Ali

Celebrating his 68th birthday, former World Boxing Federation Cruiserweight Champion, Bashiru Lawrence Ali, popularly known as Bash Ali, shared a poignant reflection on his journey from riches to adversity and his unwavering commitment to fighting against corruption in Nigeria.

In a heartfelt post on his Facebook page, the boxing legend recounted his tumultuous path, marked by relentless battles against corruption and his steadfast determination to uphold integrity in sports and society at large.

Despite lucrative offers to fight abroad, Bash Ali remained resolute in his quest to host his Guinness World Record Boxing Championship Fight in Nigeria, even at the expense of enduring significant personal and financial setbacks.

Over 17 years, Ali witnessed the erosion of his wealth, transitioning from a millionaire in dollars to a “zeronaire” in naira, symbolizing the toll his principled stance took on his finances.

Throughout his arduous journey, Ali faced physical and emotional trials, enduring injuries, hospitalizations, detentions, and even imprisonment for his unwavering commitment to his convictions.

Yet, undeterred by adversity, Bash Ali remains steadfast in his resolve, vowing to continue fighting until the age of 70, envisioning a retirement filled with prosperity and good health, culminating in his ultimate aspiration—to become the President of Nigeria.

With unwavering determination and an indomitable spirit, Bash Ali’s story serves as a testament to resilience, integrity, and the enduring pursuit of justice and excellence.
