Benue households to benefit from federal Cash Transfer Programme

The Benue State Cash Transfer Unit of the National Cash Transfer office, Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, has commenced enrollment process for the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer Programme targeting 224,090 households.

The programme is a National Social Safety Net Project Scale-Up (NASSP-SU), in line with the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with the aim of bringing financial relief to vulnerable citizens in the state.

A statement issued by the National Program Manager, Dr Michael Ajuluchuku, and made available to newsmen in Makurdi, said over 224,090 households are to benefit from the ongoing enrollment across 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

The National Programme Manager stated that “the enrollment targets127,535 beneficiaries from the National Social Register (NSR) and an additional 96,555 beneficiaries from the Rapid Response Register (RRR).

“The enrollment is actively ongoing in all the 23 Local Government Areas and in 158 Wards in 2,518 communities across the state”.

Meanwhile, the State Programme Manager, Mr Waghbo Emmanuel, urged beneficiaries to provide their National Identification Numbers (NIN) during the enrollment process to meet the eligibility criteria for opening bank accounts in fulfilment of the recent Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN) directives.

He urged those who have not registered for NIN to do so to enable to them qualify.

He disclosed that all beneficiaries will be paid through their bank accounts, adding that those with existing bank accounts will be paid through their accounts while new accounts will be opened by the programme for those that do not have accounts.

“This strategy will help to ensure all beneficiaries are financially included through the programme.”

He further stated that: “each beneficiary will receive N25,000 per circle, for three payment circles, culminating in total financial support of 875,000 only. This financial assistance is to make a significant impact on the lives of the beneficiaries, contributing to their well-being and resilience due to the hardship caused by the current economic reforms in the country.

“We are urging the public to visit their communities to enquire if their community is part of the current disclosure and check their names on the disclosure list which is often displayed on a location agreed by the community members for unhindered access and convenience of the members for validation and enrolment.

“The office of the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer and the local government desk offices can be reached for any complaints or grievances that may arise from individuals during the enrollment process. You can reach on our national toll free line 869 (MTN only) or the state GSM lines which are displayed in communities for immediate resolution,” he said.

The enrolment exercise which began last week is going to last for 10 days according to the statement.
