The move encourages more businesses to operate within the formal economy.
The Corporate Affairs Commission has opened a new service office at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, to expand access to business registration and compliance services for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises as part of efforts to improve Nigeria’s ease of doing business.
The new office, according to a statement on the commission’s verified X account on Monday, was commissioned on Monday by the Registrar-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Hussaini Magaji (SAN), and is expected to bring corporate services closer to entrepreneurs and support the Federal Government’s drive to formalise small businesses.
The initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s ongoing reforms aimed at promoting economic inclusion, improving the business environment and encouraging more businesses to operate within the formal economy.
The commission explained that the facility was strategically located to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s efforts to deepen formalisation of small businesses across the country.
The statement partly read, “The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has commissioned an additional service office at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos, to bring registration and compliance services closer to small business owners and further improve the ease of doing business in Nigeria.
“Commissioned today by the Registrar-General/CEO, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, SAN, the new office is strategically established to support the Federal Government’s drive, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to formalise small businesses and deepen economic inclusion.”
The commission stated that the new office had been fully equipped to provide seamless business registration, filing of annual returns and other regulatory compliance services.
According to the CAC, the facility will enable entrepreneurs to access its services more efficiently and reduce the time required to complete corporate transactions.
“The TBS office is fully equipped to provide seamless business registration, annual returns filing, and other compliance services, enabling SMEs to transact directly with the Commission in a faster, more convenient, and efficient manner,” the statement added.
The commission noted that the expansion underscored its commitment to supporting MSMEs, promoting regulatory compliance and ensuring that entrepreneurs have easier access to quality corporate services.
“This expansion reinforces CAC’s commitment to supporting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), promoting regulatory compliance, and ensuring that entrepreneurs can access quality corporate services with greater ease,” the statement added.
The opening of the Lagos office comes as the commission continues to roll out reforms and digital initiatives aimed at simplifying business registration processes, reducing bureaucratic bottlenecks and encouraging more enterprises to join the formal sector, which remains critical to Nigeria’s economic growth and revenue generation.
