    Lagos Government Presents Digital Tracking System to Fast-track Projects

    Lagos Government Presents Digital Tracking System to Fast-track Projects.

    The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering its 30-year development agenda with the unveiling of a digital monitoring platform designed to track projects, improve accountability and ensure government agencies meet implementation targets.

    The initiative was unveiled on Tuesday during a Stakeholders’ Parley on the implementation of the Lagos State Development Plan (LSDP) 2052 at Protea Hotel, Ikeja.

    The meeting brought together Permanent Secretaries, planning officers from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), and development partners to review progress, identify implementation challenges and chart a path for improved execution of the State’s long-term development blueprint.

    As part of efforts to strengthen project delivery, the State introduced the LSDP 2052 Tracking Dashboard, a digital platform that will monitor project implementation, evaluate the performance of MDAs, identify delays early and support evidence-based decision-making.

    Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Ope George, described the Lagos State Development Plan as more than a policy document, saying it represents the government’s long-term vision of building a safer, more prosperous and well-organised Lagos over the next three decades.

    Represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Lekan Balogun, the Commissioner said the plan comprises more than 400 strategic projects and programmes, stressing that its success depends largely on effective implementation.

    “The Plan itself recognises that implementation is the true measure of success. While it sets out over 400 strategic initiatives, its impact depends on sustained financing, integration into government planning and budgeting, active stakeholder participation and robust monitoring.

    “The future of Lagos will not be determined by the quality of our plans alone. It will be determined by the quality of our execution,” he said.

    George urged government agencies to deepen collaboration, improve reporting mechanisms and remain focused on delivering tangible results that directly improve the lives of residents.

    Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, Mrs. Olayinka Ojo, said the stakeholders’ meeting was convened to ensure that the State’s development blueprint translates into measurable outcomes rather than remaining a policy document.

    She noted that the commitment and leadership of accounting officers and heads of government agencies would determine how quickly the objectives of the Development Plan are achieved.

    “As Accounting Officers and heads of government agencies, your leadership, commitment and ability to mainstream the initiatives into annual work plans, sector strategies and budget implementation will ultimately determine the pace at which Lagos achieves the objectives of the Development Plan,” she said.

    Mrs. Ojo also commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his long-term vision, describing his administration’s investments as laying the foundation for the future of Lagos.

    She highlighted landmark projects, including the Massey Children’s Hospital, the proposed Lekki International Airport and the Lekki Deep Sea Port, as strategic investments aimed at strengthening healthcare, transportation, trade and economic growth for future generations.

    Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Lekan Balogun, disclosed that the Lagos State Development Plan contains 447 strategic initiatives, with 287 scheduled for implementation between 2022 and 2030.

    According to him, the stakeholders’ forum provided an opportunity for government agencies to review their responsibilities, strengthen inter-agency collaboration and agree on practical measures for delivering projects requiring joint implementation.

    Balogun added that residents are already benefiting from several initiatives through improvements in education, healthcare, transportation, security and tourism, while additional projects are expected to be delivered in the coming years.

    Launched in 2022, the Lagos State Development Plan 2052 serves as the State’s 30-year roadmap for sustainable growth, outlining strategies to expand infrastructure, create jobs, improve public services and build a globally competitive economy.
