Lagos shuts part of Lagos-Badagry Expressway for rehabilitation work

The Lagos State Government has announced planned repairs on the stretch of Iganmu Bridge (Lagos-bound), Eric Moore, Babs Animashaun, and Baale Junction (Badagry-bound) along the Lagos-Badagry Carriageway.

A statement issued by the Lagos Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi on Friday, stated that the repairs would be carried out in phases, with Phase 1 covering the stretch from Alagba Junction to Baale Junction on the Service Lane (Badagry-bound).

This phase will commence on Sunday, 22nd December 2024, and end on Wednesday, 22nd January 2025.

“Motorists are enjoined to use alternative routes as follows: ‘Motorists heading towards Orile Community from Iganmu Bridge on the Service Lane will be diverted to Alagba Street to link Imalenfe-Alafia Street, then connect Savage Lane to Baale Street, continuing down Kekere-Ekun Street/Tokosi Street to access the Lagos-Badagry Expressway and proceed with their journeys.

“Motorists from Iganmu Bridge to Apapa-Oshodi Expressway will continue their journey on the Toll Lane and exit at Coker to link Akinwande Street, connecting to the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway to access their destinations,” Osiyemi said.

Similarly, he explained that motorists from Iganmu Bridge heading to the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway would continue on the Toll Lane, linking the Alaba Interchange Bridge to connect with the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway and proceed on their journey.

Osiyemi added that traffic from Iganmu Bridge heading towards Badagry would continue their journey on the Toll Lane.

“During this period, motorists on the opposite side of the expressway from Badagry will have access to through traffic inbound to Lagos. Traffic diversions for other phases will be announced by the Ministry of Transportation as necessary.

“Motorists are implored to be patient, as the diversion is part of the traffic management plans for the rehabilitation of the asphalt pavement on the affected road sections by the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure (Office of Infrastructure, Lagos State),” he said.
