The RTSS Malaria Vaccine is said to have just 39%-40% efficacy on children between 0-18months. This vaccine as approved by WHO currently has a pilot study roll out in Malawi, Ghana and Kenya.
Nigeria bears the most burden of malaria in the world and as such the question is Why is Nigeria not selected for the Pilot Study? Today, Prince Ned Nwoko Foundation through Malaria Project is hosting a 3-Day workshop with key professors to develope a proposal to the vaccine partners thus: GSK, WHO, PATH, PMI/USAID, DFID/Malaria Consortium, Malaria Vaccine Initiative, NPHCDA and Ministry of Health Nigeria for RTS,S to be implemented in Nigeria. The attendees in the workshop include Prof. Steve Oguche, Prof. Tagbo Oguonu, Prof. Wellington Oyibo, Dr. Godwin Ntadom, Dr Chioma Amajoh and Emmanuel Obi.
Together we will achieve a Malaria Free Nigeria and Africa.
