Sanwo-Olu’s administration will affect every road in Lagos, reveals projects

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to leave no part of the state behind in its urban regeneration efforts.

Speaking at the inauguration of five newly rehabilitated roads in Ikeja Government Reserved Area on Thursday, the governor highlighted the importance of quality infrastructure in fostering socio-economic development and improving the lives of Lagos residents.

This was contained in a Thursday press release signed by the governor’s Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile.

It was titled, “No Area Will Be Left Behind in Urban Regeneration Bid, Sanwo-Olu Assures.”

The commissioned roads, Oba Dosumu Street, Oduduwa Way, Oduduwa Crescent, Sobo Arobiodu, and Sasegbon Streets, span a total of 6.134 kilometres.

According to the release, these upgrades complement earlier rehabilitation efforts on Isaac John, Joel Ogunnaike Street, Oba Ladejobi, and Harold Shodipo Streets, creating an interconnected network designed to enhance mobility and mitigate flooding through improved drainage systems.

Sanwo-Olu described the project as a critical step in transforming the area’s infrastructure and boosting the state’s economy.

“The rehabilitated roads and drainage systems will mitigate flooding and erosion, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance safety and security,” he stated.

Sanwo-Olu’s administration will affect every road in Lagos, reveals projects.

“This will improve the aesthetics of the environment, increase property values, and ultimately contribute to the growth of Lagos’ Gross Domestic Product (GDP).”

The governor expressed gratitude to Lagosians for their support, emphasising that the projects are part of a broader strategy to make Lagos a safer, more prosperous, and economically vibrant city.

“As we consolidate this mandate, we assure you that we will intensify our efforts to build a Lagos that works for everyone, providing an enabling environment for inclusive growth,” he added.

Meanwhile, former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, who attended the event, commended Sanwo-Olu for his visionary leadership and impactful governance.

“Your work here is a testament to what good governance should be. You have transformed the face of Ikeja as the state capital, and I urge you to continue doing more for humanity,” Fayose said.

The Special Adviser on Infrastructure, Olufemi Daramola, underscored the administration’s commitment to urban regeneration, highlighting the positive impact the newly inaugurated roads will have on interconnectivity and flood management.

Also, Sanwo-Olu called on the residents of Ikeja GRA to take ownership of the project, urging them to ensure responsible use and maintenance of the roads.

As part of ongoing efforts to revitalise urban infrastructure, the governor is set to inaugurate another 4.7 kilometres of arterial roads on Friday in the Akoka, Bariga, and Gbagada areas.
