Mohamed Al Fayed, the prominent figure and businessman, dies at 94. In a statement released, his family said: “Mrs Mohamed Al Fayed, her children and grandchildren wish to confirm that her beloved husband, their father and their grandfather, Mohamed, has passed away peacefully of old age on Wednesday August 30, 2023. He enjoyed a long and fulfilled retirement surrounded by his loved ones.” He is the former owner of Harrods department store in London, the Ritz Hotel in Paris, and the Fulham football club.

1. Mohamed Al Fayed was born January 27, 1929, in Alexandria, Egypt.
2. In 1954, he married Samira Khashoggi (sister of Saudi Arabian arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi) with whom he had one child, Dodi or Emad El-Din Mohamed Abdel Mena’em Fayed.
3. Al Fayed Investment and Trust—a private company owned by Fayed and his siblings, Ali and Salah—acquired the House of Fraser, the parent company of Harrods.
4. In 1966, he became an adviser to the Sultan of Brunei and founded his own shipping company, Genevaco.
