Covid 19 is no doubt a global pandemic and it requires collective efforts of government and the private sector to manage and combat it’s spread.

It is also a well known fact that government alone cannot cope with the challenges of providing medical equipment and sanitizers to prevent the further spread of the killer disease; alleged to have emanated from the city of Wahum in China. The Red Cross Society and other Nongovernmental organisations are already providing materials and financial assistance to combat the spread of COVID-19 pandemic globally.

Recent statistics obtained from the Cable News Network, CNN, has it that a total of 398,000 cases have been confirmed globally with 17, 540 deaths. The figures are on the rise on a daily basis but no new cases in Wahum as 40,000 medical doctors and Nurses from across China returned to their duty posts over the weekend.

Here in Nigeria, COVID-19 few cases reported in Lagos and Abuja and one of the alleged victims happened to be the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mallam Abba Kyari. Some State governments like Lagos and Delta shut down night clubs, and other leisure centres to prevent spread. While Lagos recorded over 40 cases, Edo one case, Delta is confirmed to be free from Covid-19. To God be the glory. This cup shall pass over Delta State.

Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa in a state broadcast disclosed that Delta had no case of COVID-19 and took proactive measures to prevent the spread of the dreaded disease. He suspended Biometric thumb printing in all government offices, schools closed temporarily, social distancing, directed transporters to provide sanitizers in all commercial vehicles, et al.

To further boost government efforts, it is expected that the private sector and wealthy individuals are to contribute material and financial resources to combat Covid-19. This is very important because at times like this the rich must give back to society.

In the light of the above, Prince Ned Nwoko, an illustrious son of Idumuje Ugboko in Delta North Senatorial District, international lawyer, philanthropist and billionaire business mogul, declared his intention to assist the laudable efforts of Delta State government by procuring thousands of face masks, hand gloves and sanitizers; to be distributed to Deltans from Monday 30th March, 2020. Distribution will commence from Nwoko’s Delta North Senatorial District and may get to folks in Delta Central and Delta South.

Nwoko’s large heart is inestimable and this move will further assist government to combat the spread of COVID-19 in the state. This great philanthropist is also spearheading the eradication of malaria in Africa, a project already receiving the support and backing of governments across the continent of Africa.

Philanthropists and wealthy individuals in Delta State, should emulate Nwoko’s kind gesture by procuring and distributing sanitizers to people in their senatorial districts, constituencies and local communities so as to keep Delta safe and clean from COVID-19. God said “I gave thee power to get wealth” and part of the God given wealth is meant to be used to help prevent and eradicate COVID-19, for the good of society.

The good people of Delta North are advised to look out for Prince Ned Nwoko’s agents assigned to distribute sanitizers, hand gloves and masks from Monday 30th March, 2020
