    Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda has become a central figure in Nigeria’s political landscape with his emergence as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC)

    A professor of engineering, former gubernatorial candidate, and ex-Resident Electoral Commissioner, Yilwatda brings a rare blend of academic brilliance, technological expertise, and political experience to the role.

    Below are astonishing facts that reveal the depth of his journey from the lecture halls of Makurdi to the top seat of the ruling party.

    1. Appointed APC National Chairman in 2025

    On 24 July 2025, Nentawe Yilwatda was appointed as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), succeeding Abdullahi Ganduje.

    2. Former Minister Under Tinubu’s Cabinet

    He served as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, appointed by President Bola Tinubu in October 2024.

    3. 2023 APC Governorship Candidate in Plateau

    He was the APC gubernatorial candidate in Plateau State during the 2023 general elections, running a high-profile campaign.

    4. Former Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC)

    Between 2017 and 2021, he served as the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Benue State, where he managed sensitive election operations.

    5. Electoral Advocate for Marginalised Groups

    As REC, he was lauded for his efforts to enable voting access for IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) and persons with disabilities—a rare feat in Nigerian electoral history.

    6. Expert in ICT and Academic Leadership

    He served as the ICT Director at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi for 12 years, where he developed a 10-year strategic ICT plan for the institution.

    7. Member of University Senate for 11 Years

    From 2006 to 2017, he was a member of the University Senate, contributing to academic policies and institutional planning.

    8. Recognised Among Africa’s Top 50 Digital Leaders

    Nentawe was honoured at the Top 50 Digital Economy Leaders in Africa, organised by IT Edge News Africa, and also delivered the keynote address at the event.

    9. Held Prestigious Academic Awards

    He was named Best Director of the Year at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi in 2012 for his exceptional leadership in ICT innovation.

    10. Published Researcher in Engineering and AI

    He co-authored multiple scientific papers, including “Design and Simulation of a Walking Biped Robot” and “Radio Frequency Sensor-Based Traffic Light Control for Emergency Vehicles,” a rare academic profile for a party chairman.

    11. Coordinated Tinubu/Shettima Campaign in Plateau

    He was the state coordinator for the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organisation in Plateau State during the 2023 presidential elections.

    12. Political Ally of Ex-Governor Lalong

    He maintains a close political alliance with former Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong, which influenced his political trajectory.

    13. Respectful of Judicial Processes

    After losing his governorship petition at the Supreme Court, Nentawe graciously accepted the ruling, earning him national commendation for political maturity.
