Healthcare centre named after Remi Tinubu in Lagos

The Ikoyi-Obalende Local Council Development Area on Wednesday unveiled a state-of-the-art primary healthcare centre named after the President’s wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
Mrs Tinubu was represented at the event by the wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima.
In her remarks, Shettima’s wife expressed the First Lady’s admiration for the project and commended the LCDA Chairman, Fuad Atanda-Lawal, for what she described as a legacy of people-centred leadership.
“I am delighted to join you today for the inauguration of this newly constructed Primary Health Care Centre. It is a testament to what responsive governance should embody.
“True progress begins when we treat healthcare as a right, not a privilege,” she said on behalf of the President’s wife.
The ultra-modern facility, now officially named Senator Oluremi Tinubu Health Care Centre, replaces a previously rehabilitated temporary structure and is equipped with digital health systems, electronic medical records and other modern features aimed at providing quality and affordable healthcare for the residents.
Representing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the ceremony, his wife, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, hailed the centre as a symbol of the gains of President Bola Tinubu’s local government autonomy policy.
She announced a significant increase in doctors’ salaries to N800,000 monthly from June 2025, as part of efforts to attract top medical talent to the centre.
“This redevelopment goes beyond infrastructure. It reflects our party’s commitment to inclusive healthcare delivery. Residents are already benefitting from free screenings—cancer, HIV, malaria, and even eye care services,” she said.
In his address, the Chairman of Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA, Atanda-Lawal, emphasised the role of local government autonomy and the Federal Government’s economic reforms in enabling the swift delivery of the project.
“We are proud of what we’ve achieved. This edifice is not just a building; it is a symbol of our belief that healthcare is empowerment. It is one of many projects executed by this administration in recent months,” Atanda-Lawal said.
