Airtel introduces workplace wellness with hepatitis awareness
Airtel Nigeria has introduced a companywide hepatitis awareness and vaccination campaign to mark World Hepatitis Day as part of efforts to promote employee well-being and support global health advocacy.
The telecommunications and digital services provider, in partnership with healthcare firm Leadway Health, hosted a health talk across its offices with the theme ‘Healthy Habits, Healthy Liver: Ending Hepatitis Starts with You!’ The session, led by medical consultant Dr. Obioma Anomneze-Chima, focused on prevention, early detection, and lifestyle choices that support liver health.
“Hepatitis doesn’t always announce itself; it creeps in quietly and can cause lifelong complications,” Dr. Anomneze-Chima said. “Conversations like this help us catch it before it catches us. I commend Airtel for prioritising employee health and giving them both knowledge and access to preventive care.”
Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Nigeria, Mr. Dinesh Balsingh, said the initiative aligns with the company’s ongoing focus on employee wellness and its broader corporate values.
“Our people are the heart of our organisation, and when they are healthy, they bring their best selves to work,” Mr. Balsingh said. “We’re not just investing in employee performance; we’re investing in their complete well-being.”
As part of the initiative, Airtel also rolled out a free hepatitis vaccination programme across all its offices, allowing staff to access preventive care at their convenience.
Director of Human Resources and Administration at Airtel Nigeria, Mrs. Adebimpe Ayo-Elias, said the programme reflects the company’s commitment to workplace health and corporate social responsibility.
“This hepatitis campaign is a reminder that corporate responsibility goes beyond business metrics; it’s about actively participating in global health conversations and making a difference where it counts: among our people,” she said.
The campaign forms part of Airtel’s broader health and wellness agenda for 2025, themed ‘Stay Aware, Get Tested, Vaccinated & Seek Treatment.’ The company has also implemented an Employee Assistance Programme to support mental well-being, in addition to other preventive healthcare initiatives.
Airtel Nigeria said it will continue to invest in programmes that prioritise the long-term health of its workforce while supporting national and global efforts to tackle public health challenges.
